He Rautaki Marae

He Rautaki Marae develops money management skills and capabilities for Marae and Marae Trustees.

Your marae is a taonga that must be managed with financial competency. At MWDI we’ve trained a team of local facilitators to give you the skills and the confidence to do so. We work in partnership with iwi and marae to deliver a kaupapa Māori financial literacy programme. While we have a focus on up-skilling whānau in governance roles, we also take a wider community approach – as Māori

We understand shared, collective responsibility for whānau, Hapū, iwi. We support you to develop that.

Our wānanga cover the key requirements of the Marae:

  • Trustee responsibilities
  • Strategic planning
  • Health and safety
  • Legal responsibilities
  • Financial management &
  • Topics of interest to your marae.

He Rautaki Marae gives you world-class training. We use:

  • He Papa Pūtea – a financial literacy tool kit designed in partnership with Massey University’s Fin-Ed Centre , Te Puni Kokiri and the Commission for Financial Capability
  • The OECD key competencies for governance, leadership, and management – an international standardWe want great things for your marae! If you’d like us to work with your whānau, or if you want to be trained to support other marae as a He Rautaki Marae facilitator, please email specialprojects@mwdi.co.nz
